Public Korea Studies Lecture with independent scholar Dorrit Wagner

Abstract

The talk is an introduction to the Do-ins who try to follow Confucian ideals in a modern Korea. The focus will be on the environment/location (the geomantic – Pung-su tradition), the lifestyle and annual rituals (sacrifices to heaven and earth)

The presentation will be in Danish.

Biography

Dorrit WagnerDorrit Wagner holds a MA in Classical and Religious Studies, specialising in syncretic religious movements in Korea. She has done fieldwork in South since 1978, and worked as a lecturer in the Korean Department at the University of Copenhagen in 1995-96. In 2006 to 07 she taught at Hankuk University for Foreign Studies in Seoul. Dorrit is now retired but she is still interested and curious about Korea and the development of Korean society.
