The 'authentic' other on display: living ethnographic exhibitions - past and present

Anne is a postdoc fellow and external lecturer at Saxo Institute, University of Copenhagen and has worked extensively on the colonial forms of display and knowledge of the Other. She will explore the 19thC phenomenon of parading 'living human exhibits', that is, men, women and children from Asia and Africa who were collected and displayed in Europe. In this lecture, she focuses on the Copenhagen exhibitions.
