Masculinities: Perspectives from the South
Dr. Ajay Bailey from the Population Research Centre at the Faculty of Spatial Sciences, University of Groningen, will visit NIAS and ADI to take part in the roundtable discussion on masculinities with perspectives from the South.
The discussion will focus on the construction of masculinities in varied spatialities and localities in the global south. The contested notions of 'angry young men' in Africa or the emasculated figure of a male migrant are some of the images that frame our imaginations of masculinity. The roundtable seeks to gather experiences from different locations to understand how masculinities are performed and transformed in everyday transactions.
