Adam T. Smith is professor of Anthropology at Cornell University. The central concern on his current research and writing is the role that the material world, i.e. everyday objects, representational media, and natural and built landscapes, plays in our political lives. As part of the 6th Intl. Conference Intra-Asian Connections: Interactions, flows, landscapes he will be delivering a keynote lecture entitled
