Kick-off conference
The University of Copenhagen is launching its new cross-faculty Asia focus, Asian Dynamics Initiative, with a high profile conference in The Ceremonial Hall, Frue Plads on 16 September 2008.
The conference 'Asia in the 21st century - New perspectives' marks two important events: The launch of ADI and the 40th anniversary of NIAS - Nordic Institute of Asian Studies.
Lykke Friis, Pro-Rector, University of Copenhagen and Per Stig Møller, the Danish Foreign Minister will be opening the conference. Four leading international scholars on Asia will deliver the keynote speeches addressing a range of topics that mark Asia in the 21st century. The four keynote speakers are:
- Professor Gayatri C. Spivak, Columbia University
- Professor Susan Shirk, University of California, San Diego
- Professor Ramachandra Guha, Currently Arne Naess Professor, University of Oslo
- Professor Alice Amsden, Massachusetts Institute of Technology
