Professor Gayatri C. Spivak
Professor Spivak is the Avalon Foundation Professor in the Humanities and the Director of the Institute for Comparative Literature and Society at Columbia University. Her research covers feminism, marxism, deconstruction and globalization.

Professor Susan Shirk
Professor Shirk holds the Ho Miu Lam Endowed Chair of China and Pacific Relations at the Graduate School of International Relations and Pacific Studies, University of California, San Diego. She is also Director of the University of California Institute on Global Conflict and Cooperation (IGCC). Her research mainly revolves around Chinese politics.
