How does the EU deal with a rising China?
Guest lecture 'How does the EU deal with a rising China?' by Jonas Parello-Plesner, Senior advisor on Asian Regional Affairs and EU-Asia Relations, Department for Asia and Latin America, Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The EU and China have developed a “strategic partnership”, and China increasingly looks to the EU as an ally in developing a multipolar world order. This raises the demands on the EU in dealing with China, but also with the U.S. and Japan. How does the EU deal with 'rising China' and the changing security environment in Asia? - with the Taiwan issue, China’s military modernisation, Sino-Japanese security disputes, Sino-U.S. security disputes, the weapons embargo on China etc.? What are the shared as well as the conflicting security interests? What role can and will the EU play in Asian security?
The lecture is free and open to all interested.
