Guest lectures with Pranab Bardhan

One of the most influential development economists of his generation, Professor Pranab Bardhan from the University of California, Berkeley, is going to visit the Development Economics Research Group (DERG), Department of Economics, University of Copenhagen. Professor Bardhan will be giving two connected public lectures under the title "Awakening Giants, Feet of Clay: A Comparative Economic Assessment of the Rise of China and India" on 23 and 24 April.

The two lectures are connected, but can be followed separately.

Pranab Bardhan is Professor of Economics at the University of California, Berkeley. He has done theoretical and field studies research on rural institutions in poor countries, on political economy of development policies, and on international trade. A part of his work is in the interdisciplinary area of economics, political science, and social anthropology.

Professor Bardhan has recently finished the book "Awakening Giants,
Feet of Clay: A Comparative Economic Assessment of the Rise of China and India". The book will be published by Princeton University Press. The Lectures in Copenhagen will focus on this recent work.
