Social Network Organization of Health
The Centre of Healthy Ageing and Asian Dynamics Initiative invite you to a seminar with Yoosik Youm, Professor of Sociology, Yonsei University - NEW VENUE
In his talk Professor Youm will introduce the ‘Korean Social life, Health, and Aging Project’ (KSHAP) and some selected research results. The KSHAP is a longitudinal, population-based study of health and social factors, aiming to understand the well-being of older, community-dwelling Koreans. Especially it is equipped with the complete social networks of two entire villages combined with physical examinations including drawing blood and fMRI brain scanning. Selected research results cover various health outcomes such as osteoporosis, coronary calcium score, brain connectivity, depression, and CRP.

Bio
Yoosik Youm is a full professor of Sociology at Yonsei University. Prior to that, he was an assistant professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago (2000-2005). He graduated from Yonsei University (B.A., 1987; M.A, 1990) and the University of Chicago (PhD, 2000). Youm's research interests include family dynamics, health, organizations, sexuality, ethnic relations.
