ADI Call for Applications: Funding for Master Students working on Asia

Are you planning to do fieldwork for your Master thesis on or in Asia but lacking resources to carry out the work you are so passionate about doing? Or perhaps you are thinking about doing a PhD and need some financial support to organize that field trip or focus group with key actors that will boost your PhD proposal? Or maybe you know another student who is.
ADI is excited to open up a new opportunity exclusively for Master students, with the aim of supporting them on their journey into early career scholarship.

Pre-conditions for applying

  • Applicants must be registered in a Master program at the University of Copenhagen
  • A maximum of 10,000 DKK may be applied for
  • Projects must have a strong focus on at least one of the following:
    • languages, cultures, societies, and politics across Asia
    • intra-Asia connections including East Asia, South Asia, South-East Asia as well as Central Asia traversing across Eurasia and West Asia
    • global Asia including Asian diaspora

ADI does not fund

  • Students who are not ENROLLED in a Master program at the University of Copenhagen
  • Students who are not ACTIVELY PARTICIPATING in a Master program at the University of Copenhagen
  • Applications for support for open access publishing
  • Student salary/scholarships

Your application should contain

  • Your full name and email contact
  • The Master program you are enrolled in
  • One-page (max. 550 words) with the title and description of your Master project, and precisely what the grant you are applying for will support
  • A simple budget (itemized approximate expenses – e.g. flights, accommodation etc.)
Deadline for applications: Monday 22 May 2023
Notification of decision: Wednesday 31 May 2023
