Abstract

On 7 December the United Nations Climate Change Conference, COP15, opens in Copenhagen. Ahead of the summit, international attention has increasingly focused on the US and China as the key players of the conference. Jørgen Delman, analyses the background to the Chinese position and the options available for the Chinese negotiators. Jørgen Delman argues that by sorting out its ambitions, priorities and specific implementation measures with regard to mitigation of climate change at the national level, China has placed itself in an advantageous negotiation position vis-à-vis the other major players, especially the US.
