CFP: 8th EuroSEAS conference

The European Association for Southeast Asian Studies (EuroSEAS) will hold its 8th conference from 11 to 14 August 2015 at the University of Vienna and the Austrian Academy of Sciences in Vienna, Austria. As an international and multi-disciplinary organisation, EuroSEAS invites scholars and PhD students from all academic disciplines with an interest in Southeast Asia to submit panels that explore relevant research topics from an interdisciplinary perspective as well as discuss theoretical and methodological aspects of research generated in the field of Southeast Asian Studies. Scholars are also encouraged to submit proposals for roundtable discussions about recent developments in Southeast Asia.

Keynote Speakers: Benedict Anderson and Ayu Utami

Format:
Panels: (1) title, (2) convener, (3) brief description of panel max ½ page, (4) single session (1 x 90 min.): 3-4 presenters; double session (2 x 90 min.): 7-8 presenters (preferably power point presentations, don’t read papers), (5) optional: discussant.
Roundtable: (1) title, (2) convener, (3) explain in ½ page urgency of topic, (4) max 6 presenters who deliver brief statements for discussion.
Individual participants: possibility for individual participants to join the conference without presenting a paper.

EuroSEAS will also provide facilities for scholars and filmmakers to screen documentaries.

You are invited to submit proposals for panels and round tables. At this stage, we are only asking for panel proposals - note that you do not need to have a full list of panellists in order to propose a panel. A call for individual papers will follow once we have reviewed all the panel proposals.

Official registration at the EuroSEAS website www.euroseas.org will start from 1 November 2014 onwards.

Conference fees:
Students and low income fee: 140,00 euros
Early bird fee (registration until 28/02/2015): 200,00 euros
Full fee (01/03-15/05/2015): 240,00 euros
Plus EuroSEAS membership fee (to be paid by all participants) 30,00 euros.
