‘TRODITIES’: First Meeting at the University of Sussex, 26-27 November 2015
Our first project meeting at Sussex had a diverse agenda. It was the very first opportunity for us all to meet up and get a better idea of one another’s research interests of the project participants, potential areas of closer cooperation and useful contacts in the field.
On day one, Caroline gave a fascinating and thought-provoking paper on that generated a lively discussion. On day two, we addressed a wide range of ethical issues, both formal and ones particularly relevant for our research (e.g. from documenting oral consent of our interlocutors in the field to information sharing with local institutions and government in China).
The ERC and the University of Sussex have somewhat different criteria for evaluating the project ethics section and Magnus has to address their various concerns in his reports. At the end of day two, Magnus and the head of the Anthropology Department discussed job applications for the Post Doc vacancy on our project. Hopefully, in a week or so we will have a new member on board!
