DFF - International postdoctoral grants

OUTLINE

The purpose is to strengthen the international mobility of young talented researchers, as well as to maintain and develop the competencies of researchers who are in the beginning of their research careers. The aim is to enable the grant recipient to consolidate his or her individual research profile by managing and carrying out a specific research project, in an independent manner, at a research institution abroad.

ELIGIBILITY

Researchers who have a PhD or are expected to obtain a PhD from  a Danish research institution  within 6 months after the application deadline or equivalent qualifications.

 Up to two years,  maximum of 6 consecutive months can be spent at a Danish research institution.

DFF - International postdoctoral grants

DFF Research Project 1 and 2

 OUTLINE

DFF-Research project 1

  • A framework of up to DKK 2,000,000, excl. overhead
  • Duration up to 3 years
  • A clear and well defined problem statement
  • Research activities at a high international level

 

DFF- Research project 2

  • To be carried out by several researchers (including postdocs and PhD students)
  • Framework of DKK 2,000,000 – 4,500,000, excl. overhead
  • Duration up to 4,5 years
  • A coordinated and mutually binding collaboration that takes its point of departure in a well-defined, joint problem statement
  • Potential to achieve a synergy between sub-projects
  • Involve an international level of collaboration (if relevant)
  • High international standard

DFF-Research Project 1 and 2

DFF - Sapere Aude

 

OUTLINE

Danish Council for Independent Research offers the Sapere Aude-programme targeted at the research elite in Denmark. The programme was previously made up of three instruments.

Due to the cuts in the national budget for 2016-2017, the Danish Council for Independent Research has decided to reduce the Sapere Aude Programme to only one funding instrument which will be the DFF-Starting Grant.

  • Sapere Aude: DFF-Starting Grant is aimed at younger, very talented researchers who, at the time of the application deadline and within the last eight years, have obtained their PhD.

Sapere Aude

Danida Research Grants

OUTLINE

Grants for development research activities with partners in Danida priority countries and in growth and transition countries. 

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark has set up two new windows providing grants for development research activities. Grants will be awarded for strategic research collaboration which generates new knowledge relevant to the needs and strategies of 'priority countries' (window 1) or 'growth and transition countries' (window 2) and contributes to strengthening research capacity in these countries.

Window 1: The Danida Priority Countries (Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Burkina Faso, Ghana, Ethiopia, Kenya, Mali, Myanmar, Niger, Palestine, Somalia, Tanzania, and Uganda).

Window 2: growth and transition countries involved in the programme “Partnering with Denmark” (Bangladesh, Brazil, China, Colombia, Ghana, India, Indonesia, Iran, Kenya, Mexico, Myanmar, South Africa, Turkey, and Vietnam).

All projects must be in partnership with research institutions in the mentioned partner countries. Partnerships should be equal, and partners should be able to contribute actively in preparing both Phase 1 and Phase 2 applications.

The project coordinator must hold a PhD or equivalent.

Research-based institutions in Denmark, Ghana and Tanzania are eligible for the research grants in Window 1.

Scandinavia-Japan Sasakawa Foundation (SJSF)


OUTLINE

Scandinavia-Japan Sasakawa Foundation was founded in 1985. The objectives of the foundation are to enhance friendly relations between the five Nordic countries and Japan and to promote exchange between the peoples of the countries concerned, to increase international understanding and to attain peace in the world.

OUTLINE

VILLUM FONDEN and VELUX FONDEN are non-profit foundations and part of THE VELUX FOUNDATIONS. The Foundations support specific, well-delimited, large-scale projects for the advancement of scientific, artistic, cultural, social and environmental purposes, primarily for the benefit of Denmark and the Danish nation.

Østasiatiske Kompagnis Almennyttige Fond (EAC)

 

OUTLINE

The EAC Foundation primarily supports projects and activities that strengthen and expand relationships both professional and culturally between Denmark and the countries where EAC has worked particularly in Asian countries.

WHAT IS FUNDED

The foundation focuses on research, humanitarian missions, environmental protection, educational and artistic and national purposes.

The EAC Foundation

S. C. Van Foundation

 

OUTLINE

The S. C. Van Foundation supports projects and activities in the following three categories:

1: Individuals of primarily Chinese origin who reside or temporarily stay in Denmark in order to accomplish a higher education (documented matriculation as Master-, Ph.D. student or similar degree). “Chinese origin” includes individuals born in Denmark or in East Asian countries to Chinese parents. S. C. Van Fonden may not support mercantile studies, residence or sojourn with commercial aims.

2: Danish citizens’ studies in and scientific relations with China. S. C. Van Fonden may not support mercantile studies, residence or sojourn with commercial aims.

3: Promotion of art and culture relating to both China and Denmark.
